Standard. Federation
Cynologique Internationale founded in 1911 has 79 members worldwide. Not a
registry but stresses working standards and maintains criteria.
Heads.
Understand harmonious proportions of muzzle to skull. Wrinkles
appear when ears are erect. Blunt muzzle is 1/3 length of head from occiput
to tip of nose and 2/3 width of skull. See muzzle length change. Eyes dark
brown, change size and color. Evaluate head profile and front views.
Understand the
Boxer bite.
History. The Boxer is cousin
to practically all breeds of bull dog type and these go back to basic molossus
blood. Evidence points to Boxer as a decendent of fighting dog of the high
valleys of Tibet. The
Boxer was one of the first breeds selected for police training in Germany.
Though the Boxer name is English it arises from his manner of fighting which
begins with his front paws just like a boxer. The first AKC registration of
a Boxer was in 1904.
